Creative Lead: Retail

Role is embedded on-site in Silicon Valley.

As the Creative Lead for Retail, you'll combine excellent design, written, and experiential skills to make our Mountain View based client’s hardware products and services break through the clutter of retail environments. You’ll be a self-motivated lead designer and strategic systems thinker with a keen attention to detail. You’ll take business goals and turn them into brand stories that connect with customers across a wide variety of retailers.


  • BA, BFA or BS degree required with at least 8 years of design experience within in-house, design firm or agency environment with well-known brand and retail design expertise.
  • Have a solid understanding of design development process, effectively communicate, lead, and manage projects from concept to production within associated timelines and costs.
  • Proven design portfolio that shows a clean, modern design aesthetic, strong typography skills and art direction, and innovative thinking.
  • Ability to perform and apply 2D and 3D design skills, including retail design, space planning, POS design, and visual presentation development/layout.
  • Must be self-motivated, articulate, and possess excellent verbal, written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work smart in a fast-paced, high-growth (and a little crazy)
  • environment.
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite – especially InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Sit on-site with the client’s team in Mountain View, work closely with the Minneapolis-based team.
  • Perform other duties from time to time to meet the changing needs of the client/agency.
  • Some travel required.


  • Successfully implement a 2D and 3D design vision that supports Mountain View based client’s brand and commercial objectives with an understanding of how executions will scale.
  • Must have a deep understanding of business and creative strategy and be able to concept and execute work that delivers against business objectives and budget.
  • Be able to clearly communicate design vision through visuals (storyboards/ mood boards, drawing/sketching, ideation, typography, photography, color, materials, and textures) while understanding the context, insight, and design realities at retail.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with internal design resources such as 3D modelers, graphic designers, copywriters, tech engineering and production development to realize and prove out design concepts.
  • Inspire a creative team by sharing ideas and developing effective solutions to generate multiple concepts supporting retail design and fixtures.
  • Communicate obstacles that would prevent delivering and installing retail designs or fixtures on schedule and within budget.
  • Focus on the user. Interpret and translate complex requirements into simple and beautiful solutions and user experiences.
  • Create and contribute to a great design team culture. Stay inspired and inspire the people around you.
