Senior Account Manager, PR

The Senior Account Manager, PR will serve as the day-to-day client contact, managing the client’s public relations account activities, expectations and budget. This person will bring public relations programs to life from plan to execution, working with account supervisors and the account director in strategic planning, as well as build and maintain positive relationships and rapport with clients, media, agency colleagues and vendors.

ABOUT THE GIG:

  • Build client confidence in agency by nurturing effective working relationships with client public relations and communications staff
  • Assure agency work meets or exceeds client’s and agency’s quality standards, is presented in a professional manner and delivered in a timely fashion
  • Lead and manage other agency departments in development of integrated communications efforts
  • Establish clear, measurable goals and KPIs for client public relations programs
  • Keep members of agency integrated communications team abreast of client and industry issues
  • Develop content for public relations support materials, and serve as primary or secondary media relations contact
  • Manage our clients' presence at events, including trade shows, media events and key stakeholder meetings.
  • Issue internal and client contact reports as needed in order to track performance and project objectives
  • Review and approve proposals, estimates and billing for accuracy and resolve client billing issues
  • Become recognized expert in client’s business. This involves understanding the client's products, market, distribution, trends and organization history, as well as internal dynamics and challenges
  • Seek out opportunities to sell assigned clients additional Periscope solutions and/or penetrate new areas of the client organization
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned from time to time to meet the changing needs of the agency

ABOUT YOU:

  • Knowledge and experience in news writing and pitching stories to media, with a successful media placement track record
  • Community manager experience and up-to-date knowledge of all social media channels
  • Knowledge of Associated Press style
  • Excellent writing, communication and client management skills
  • Experience in successfully identifying and managing vendor relationships
  • Ability to organize and manage complex, multifaceted projects and programs
  • Ability to quickly learn and master a new business and market
  • Confident, clear, and persuasive presentation skills, both in writing and in person

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years' agency experience in public relations, communications, marketing, or related experience on the client side
  • Agriculture experience preferred, but not required
